Our Story
The Spark:
Universal Step’s founder had poured and installed traditional precast steps for years. The joy of his steps went far beyond providing homeowners access to their homes. They served as a warming invitation, a place to welcome loved ones, and a way to revitalize communities.
But, as neighborhoods grew, property lines tightened. Accessibility shrunk and booming in traditional steps with large equipment was no longer feasible. Someone needed to rethink the conventional approach to step installation. Thus began the journey, with a goal of remastering how steps were installed.
Our Purpose:
To make steps more accessible and affordable to American homeowners by eliminating the barriers of space, transport, purchasing, maintenance, and assembly. To offer an effortless no compromise solution that transcends traditional options.
The Solution:
Traditionally, Precast Steps are poured into a metal mold and finished as a singular unit. Being a tedious, labor-intensive, and expensive process that could push finish work overnight depending on curation, we were inspired to improve efficiency through modular construction techniques and ‘upside-down’ finishing methods. To improve the longevity of our steps in any climate, we leverage high performance concrete and innovative assembly methods to create a better performing solution.
We invented structural components with the masonry finish fully incorporated into ever mold. Now, we produce monolithic (single layer) components that reduce labor requirements 90% and simplified assembly so no construction experience is necessary. So simple, only two socket’s, a power drill, and a caulk gun is needed. There’s no more hidden fees. The result? 50-75% lower cost than traditional precast steps. There’s no add on stone finish, delivery fee, installation fee, or contractor needed. So in 2018, our patented ready-to-assembly step was officially born.
